Mount Holyoke College, the liberal arts college for women in South Hadley, Massachusetts, is launching a new internship program called The Lynk that will be aimed at connecting students’ academic work with practical experience and career exploration.
The program will include counseling to help students select a major and courses. The program will provide networking, workshops, and other activities to provide students with information on career opportunities. One of the most important components of the new program is a funded summer internship or research opportunity for every student during her sophomore or junior year at the college.
Lynn Pasquerella, president of Mount Holyoke College, stated, “More than ever before, it is critical for colleges and universities to provide opportunities to connect curriculum to career. At Mount Holyoke, we provide models for excellence by engaging embedded practitioners, offering enhanced advising, and taking advantage of our extraordinary alumnae network to ensure that employers understand that a liberal arts education is the best preparation for work in a globally interdependent, rapidly changing world.”
