Kate Northrop Wins the $25,000 Jeannette Haien Ballard Writer’s Prize

Kate Northrop, associate professor of English at the University of Wyoming, won the Jeannette Haien Ballard Writer’s Prize, an annual award given to a young writer of poetry or prose. The award comes with a $25,000 cash prize.
Northrop has been on the faculty at the University of Wyoming since 2006. She is the author of three published collections of poetry: Clean (Persea Books, 2011); Things Are Disappearing Here (Persea Books, 2007); and Back Through Interruption (Kent State University Press, 2003).
Northrop is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Iowa.
