Woman Claims Carnegie Mellon University Failed to Protect Her From Sexual Harassment

The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights on behalf of a woman student who claims she was sexually assaulted by another woman student. The complaint alleges that although the university found that the accused student violated the university’s policy on sexual assault, it did not do enough to protect the victim from further contact with the accused.
The university ordered the accused not to have direct or indirect contact with the victim. Yet, according to the complaint, the two women remained in the same academic program and were in the same classes. The victim alleges that the offender continued to harass and intimidate her while on campus.
