Debra W. Stewart to Step Down as President of the Council of Graduate Schools

Debra W. Stewart, president of the Council of Graduate Studies has announced that she will step down from her post on June 30, 2014. She has led the organization, dedicated to the improvement of graduate education and research, since 2000. Previously, Dr. Stewart was vice chancellor and dean of the Graduate School at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She also served as interim chancellor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dr. Stewart is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, where she majored in philosophy and political science. She holds a master’s degree in government from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hills.
