The New President of the American Library Association

Barbara K. Stripling, assistant professor of practice in the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, was inaugurated as the president of the American Library Association at the group’s annual summer conference in Chicago. The American Library Association is the world’s largest and oldest association for library professionals. Membership in the organization numbers more than 60,000.
Dr. Stripling joined the faculty at Syracuse University in 2012. For the previous six years, she was director of library services for the New York City Department of Education. A graduate of Stanford University, Dr. Stripling holds master’s degrees from the University of Colorado and the University of Arkansas. She earned a doctorate in professional studies in information management at Syracuse University.
