Texas A&M Scholar Wins Book Award

Cara Wallis, an assistant professor in the department of communication at Texas A&M University, received the James W. Carey Media Research Award. The award, established in 2004, honors James W. Carey, a communications theorist, media critic, and journalism professor.
Dr. Wallis was honored for her book Technomobility in China: Young Migrant Women and Mobile Phones (New York University Press, 2013).
Dr. Wallis joined the faculty at Texas A&M in 2009. She is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she majored in English literature. She holds a master’s degree in applied linguistics from UCLA, and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Southern California.
