University of Houston Selects Its Next Provost

The University of Houston has announced the appointment of Paula Short as provost. Dr. Short has been serving as interim provost but was not among the three candidates identified in May as finalists for the position on a permanent basis.
Prior to coming to the University of Houston in 2012, Dr. Short served for more than 10 years as vice chancellor for academic affairs for the Tennessee Board of Regents. Earlier she was the associate vice president for academic affairs for the University of Missouri system. She has taught at Auburn University, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Missouri at Columbia.
From 1993 to 1999. Dr. Short served as editor of the Journal of School Leadership. She currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Women in Educational Leadership.
Dr. Short holds a doctorate in administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
