Lisa M. Klesges to Lead the Society of Behavioral Medicine

klesges2Lisa M. Klesges, dean of the School of Public Health and professor of epidemiology and social and behavioral sciences at the University of Memphis, has been voted president-elect of the Society of Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Klesges will serve one year as president-elect and then assume the presidency of the organization after the 2014 annual meeting in Philadelphia next April.

The Society of Behavioral Medicine, headquartered in Milwaukee, is a multidisciplinary organization of clinicians, educators, and scientists dedicated to promoting the study of the interactions of behavior with biology and the environment and the application of that knowledge to improve the health and well being of individuals, families, communities, and populations.

Dr. Klesges is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She earned a master’s degree in psychology at the University of Memphis and a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota.
