The American Library Association Chooses Its Next Leader

Courtney Louise Young, head librarian at the Allegheny campus of Pennsylvania State University, has been elected president-elect of the American Library Association. She was chosen by the association’s membership by a vote of 5,391 to 5,029 over Barbara Froling Immroth, professor in the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin.
Young will become president-elect of the oldest and largest library association in the world at the conclusion of the 2013 annual conference in Chicago. A year later, she will become president of the association.
Young is a graduate of the College of Wooster, where she majored in English. She holds a master of library science degree from Simmons College.
