Kathryn Wasserman Davis, the oldest known alumna of Wellesley College (Class of 1928), died late last month at her home in Hobe Sound, Florida. She was 106 years old.
Davis was a member of the board of trustees of Wellesley College from 1984 to 2002. Over the course of her lifetime, she donated more than $50 million to the college. The Davis Museum and Cultural Center on the Wellesley College campus is named in honor of her and her husband Shelby Cullom Davis, a Wall Street investment banker and former U.S. ambassador to Switzerland.
Davis also endowed the 100 Summer Scholarships for Peace fund that covers the full cost of enrolling in the summer language schools at Middlebury College in Vermont.
