Karla Hughes Is a Finalist for the Presidency of Illinois State University

Illinois State University has announced a field of four finalists to become the 18th president of the educational institution. All candidates will be visiting campus by the end of April for interviews and public forums. One of the four finalists is a woman.
Karla V. Hughes is a professor, provost, and vice president for academic affairs at Morehead State University in Kentucky. She has held this post since 2007. Previously, she was a tenured professor and founding dean of the College of Human Ecology at East Carolina University. Earlier in her career she taught at Virginia Tech, Kansas State University, the University of Missouri, and Middle Tennessee State University. In 2012, she was a finalist for the presidency of the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
Dr. Hughes holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in food and nutrition from Kansas State University. She earned a Ph.D. in animal science from the University of Tennessee.
