University of Kansas Professor Wins Hugo Award for Science Fiction Writing

Kij Johnson, assistant professor of English at the University of Kansas, received the Hugo Award in the novella category from the World Science Fiction Society. Professor Johnson was honored for her work, “The Man Who Bridged the Mist.” The story appears in The Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year, Volume 6 (Night Shade Books, 2012).

Johnson joined the University of Kansas faculty this fall. She is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.  She holds a master of fine arts degree from North Carolina State University.
