Three Women Named Department Chairs at the University of Miami’s School of Communication

The University of Miami School of Communication is in the midst of a major reorganization to reflect the vast changes in communication industries. The school previously offered seven different programs. These programs have now been absorbed into four academic departments. Three of the new departments will be chaired by women.
Diane Millette, an associate professor, was named chair of the department of communication studies. Dr. Millette earned an educational doctorate at West Virginia University.
Terry Bloom, an associate professor, is the chair of the department of journalism and media management. She has been on the university’s faculty since 2004.
Dr. Bloom is a graduate of the University of Miami. She earned a master’s degree at Arizona State University and a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Associate professor Alyse Lancaster was appointed chair of the department of strategic communication which includes programs in advertising and public relations.
Dr. Lancaster earned a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Florida.
