A new study released by Statistics Canada, finds that women with lower levels of education have higher rates of disease and death. The study focused on the remaining years of life for women at the age of 25.
The study found that women who dropped out of high school lived an average of 56.4 additional years. Women who had graduated from college lived an average of 60.6 additional years. The authors of the study stated that women with a college degree had a greater level of health literacy that enables these women to identify health issues and to stay clear of risk factors that may lead to disease or premature death.
