University of Florida Scholar Elected President of the American Counseling Association

Cirecie West-Olatunji, an associate professor of counselor education at the University of Florida, was elected president of the American Counseling Association. She will serve a one-year term as president-elect beginning July 1 and then begin her term as president on July 1, 2013. The American Counseling Association has more than 43,000 members.
Dr. West-Olatunji specializes in multicultural counseling and has developed new counseling programs for practitioners who deal with victims of natural disasters.
A graduate of Dartmouth College, Dr. West-Olatunji holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in counselor education from the University of New Orleans.
