In Connecticut, Women Outpace Men in College Enrollments

The Connecticut Department of Education has released a new report on the college enrollment rates of  students who graduated from public high schools in Connecticut in 2010. The data shows that 75 percent of women who graduated from high school enrolled in either a two-year or four-year college. For male high school graduates, 64 percent enrolled in college.

If we look only at students who enrolled in four-year institutions, the data shows that 56 percent of women high school graduates went on to enroll in college compared to 45 percent of male high school graduates.

The survey found that in 2010 there were slightly more men than women who graduated from public high schools in Connecticut. But women made up 53 percent of all students who took the SAT college entrance examination.
