Clayton State University Selects Corrie Fountain to Serve as Interim Provost

Corrie Fountain, associate provost for faculty affairs at Georgia State University, has been selected to serve as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. She will join the Clayton State University community this spring and return to Georgia State University at the end of the fall 2024 semester.

Dr. Fountain joined the Georgia State University staff in 2021 as director of faculty development. She was selected to serve as interim associate provost in 2022, and was officially promoted to her present position in 2023. She also holds a faculty appointment as a professor of cultural and behavioral science in the university’s Perimeter College where she researches education and intersectionality within higher education. Prior to her current position, Dr. Fountain was the department chair of inclusive education and interim associate dean at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

“The role of a provost in higher education is critical to its success,” said Dr. Fountain. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve at Clayton State in this interim capacity, and I hope that my contributions will aid in the success of its students, faculty and staff.”

Dr. Fountain is a graduate of Delaware State University where she majored in elementary education. She holds a master’s degree in special education and behavior disorders from West Virginia University and a Ph.D. in educational policy studies from Georgia State University.
