L'Oréal USA has revealed the 2025 For Women in Science awardees, providing five women postdoctoral scientists grants in order to advance their research.
The board of regents of the University of Colorado has announted the appointed of seven scholars to the rank of Distinguished Professors. Three of the appointments went to women: Kristen A. Carpenter, Marcia Douglas, and Jade Morton.
Wintner taught German and English at Haverford College in Pennsylvania for more than 40 years. During this time, she was active in the college's writing program, helping first-year students acclimate to the rigors of college-level writing.
Dr. Lindsay has served as the second woman president of Anne Arundel Community College for over a decade. She is slated to retire from her position at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year.
Dr. Chodorow was a longtime professor of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. Throughout her career, she conducted groundbreaking research on mother-daughter relationships, specifically how mothering shapes psychological development and social roles.

Mridul Datta of Iowa State University, Sudha Rai of Syracuse University, and Hollie Raynor of the University of Tennessee are among this year's recipients of the 2025 Medallion Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The award honors outstanding participation, leadership, and devotion to others in the field and allied health professions.
Christina Mortellaro was named interim dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions at Saint Peter's University, Burcu Akinci was named dean of the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, and Ebony Gilbreath was named dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee University.
As head of the University of Southern California's Medical and Analytical Device Laboratory, Dr. Mousavi develops integrated electrochemical sensors for at-home and point-of-care medical testing, with a focus on addressing health disparities through accessible and affordable technologies.
The appointments are Tamara Josserand at North Carolina A&T State University, Willa Smith at Stony Brook University, Anette Saxe at the University of Nevada-Reno, Linda Chavers at Holyoke Community College, Beth Dowling at Dartmouth College, Kristine Brown at Bucknell University, Janet Hadar at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Paula Murphy at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Dr. Lloréns has conducted extensive research on structural inequality and community health among Latinx populations. She is a professor of anthropology and gender and women's studies at the University of Rhode Island and is currently serving as the 2025-2026 Cornille Distinguished Visiting Professor at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.
The women appointed to endowed positions are Jennifer Martin at Florida International University, Cambria Kaltwasser at Northwestern College, Amy Magnus at California State University, Chico, Elena Naumova at Tufts University, and Diane Reidy-Lagunes at Duke University.
The three women promoted to full professor at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota are Mihaela Czobor-Lupp in political science, Amna Khalid in history and Anna Rafferty in computer science.
“Especially since the fall of 2021, female college students have been passing fewer classes and experiencing slower credit accumulation compared to female college students before the pandemic,” said Dr. Dora Gicheva of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. “And this gap is relatively greater than the one we see for male college students.”
Following eight years of service as dean of Virginia Tech's College of Engineering, Dr. Ross is slated to become the university's chief academic officer in January.
Between 2015 and 2022, the six-month risk of sexual violence was 74 percent higher for women ages 18 to 24 who were enrolled in college compared to women in the same age group who were not enrolled, according to a new study from Washington State University.
