Emily Suski was slated to become the next dean of the University of Arkansas School of Law. However, just days after she was sent her offer, the university reversed its decision after several Arkansas lawmakers objected to Suski's prior defense of transgender athletes' rights to play on the teams aligned with their gender identity.
With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Bailey most recently served as director for research development at Virginia State University. A scholar of early childhood education, she has held academic and leadership roles with numerous universities across the United States.
A veteran of the United States Army Nursing Corps, Dr. Broome held nursing leadership positions at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Indiana University, and Duke University. Alongside her teaching and administrative roles, she studied ethical pediatric nursing practices, as well as the education and training of nursing executives.
Jeannette Andrews, dean of the University of South Carolina College of Medicine, stated, "Our nurse-midwifery program will offer high quality education and training that empowers nurses to provide compassionate, specialized care for families throughout every stage of pregnancy and childbirth."
"Prenatal marijuana use is a modifiable risk factor," the authors write. "In a constantly changing legal landscape surrounding marijuana, it becomes imperative to provide clear and unambiguous messaging regarding the adverse effects of marijuana use during pregnancy."
