Two Women Rhodes Scholars From Foreign Lands With Ties to U.S. Educational Institutions
Lillian Dube is one of two Rhodes Scholars from Zimbabwe. She is a 2015 graduate of the University of Chicago. Diala Issam Al Masri, a native of Labanon, is a 2015 master’s degree graduate of the Center for Development Economics at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she now works as a research assistant.

The First Woman President of Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin
Sara Ray Stoelinga currently serves as the Sara Liston Spurlark Director of the Urban Education Institute at the University of Chicago. Dr. Stoelinga also serves as a professor in the Urban Teacher Education Program at the university. She will become president of Carroll University in July 2017.

Elaine Fuchs Selected to Receive the Vanderbilt Prize in Biomedical Science
Dr. Fuchs is the Rebecca C. Lancefield Professor at Rockefeller University in New York City. The Vanderbilt Prize honors women scientists with a stellar record of research accomplishments who have made significant contributions to mentoring other women in science.
Danielle Allen Named University Professor at Harvard University
Danielle Allen was appointed the James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University, effective January 1. This is the highest honor bestowed on a faculty member at Harvard. Currently there are 24 University Professors at Harvard. Five are women.
President of Middlebury College to Lead the American Academy of Religion
With more than 9,000 members, the American Academy of Religion is the world’s largest organization dedicated to the critical study of religion. Dr. Patton will serve one year as vice president, one year as president-elect, and then in 2018 will become president of the organization.
In Memoriam: Susan Lee Lindquist, 1949-2016
Professor Lindquist served on the faculty at the University of Chicago for 23 years. In 2001, she became a professor of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was named director of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research.

Ellen Zweibel to Receive the Maxwell Prize in Plasma Physics
Dr. Zweibel is the William L. Kraushaar Professor of Physics and Astronomy and chair of the department of astronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Professor Zweibel will receive a $10,000 prize at the annual meeting of the Division of Plasma Physics of the American Physical Society.
