The First Woman to Lead the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island
Rear Adminral Shoshana Chatfield served as a helicopter pilot in the Western Pacific, Afghanistan, and the Arabian Gulf. From 2001 to 2004, Dr. Chatfield was an assistant professor of political science at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Most recently, she was commander of U.S. Naval Forces in the Mariana Islands in the northern Pacific Ocean.
A Milestone Appointment at the U.S. Military Academy
Colonel Cindy Jebb, chair of the department of social sciences at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, has been chosen by President Obama as the next dean of the academic board at West Point. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, she will be the first woman to hold the post in the 216-year history of West Point.
Mary Ann Peters to Lead The Carter Center at Emory University
Mary Ann Peters spent 30 years in the diplomatic service, including a term as U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh. Currently, she is provost at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
