Laurie A. Carter Selected as the Seventeenth President of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin
Since 2017, Carter has been president of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. She spent 25 years in leadership positions at The Juilliard School and later was executive vice president and university counsel at Eastern Kentucky University. She will begin her new duties on July 1.
Maria Arvelo Lumpkin Is the New Leader of St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina
In October 2019, Dr. Lumpkin was named chief operating officer at Saint Augustine’s University. Previously, she served as the special assistant to the president, and as the inaugural executive director of student retention and the center for scholar communities at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.

Barbara G. Lyman has served as the chief academic officer at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania since 2008. She will serve as interim president while a national search is conducted for a permanent president. The search will begin later this year.
