In Memoriam: Barbara Jones, 1935-2024
Dr. Jones was a women’s studies scholar and cultural anthropologist. During her academic career, she taught courses at schools across the country including Merritt College in Oakland, California, where she served as chair of the anthropology department.

Since 2015, Dr. Teniente-Matson has been serving as president of Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She served as vice president for administration and chief financial officer for California State University, Fresno from 2004 to 2015.
Mary A. Papazian Is Stepping Down From Presidency of San José State University
The resignation comes on the heels of an investigation that university officials covered up allegations of sexual misconduct involving the former director of sports medicine at the university. Many members of the university’s swimming team alleged sexual misconduct during physical therapy sessions and university officials have been accused of attempting to cover up the incidents.

A recent study led by Heather Hensman Kettrey, an assistant professor of sociology at Clemson University in South Carolina, finds that bystander intervention programs are not as effective as college and university administrators had hoped they would be in reducing the number of sexual assaults on campus.
Josee Larochelle to Lead the State University of New York at Plattsburgh
Josee Larochelle was named officer-in-charge at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. The title is equivalent to interim president. Larochelle currently serves as vice president for administration and finance at the university. She has been at SUNY Plattsburgh since July 2017.
Lisa Vollendorf Appointed Provost at Sonoma State University in California
Since 2012, Dr. Vollendorf has been serving as dean of the College of Humanities and Arts at San Jose State University in California. Earlier, Dr. Vollendorf was a professor of Spanish at California State University, Los Angeles and taught at Wayne State University in Detroit and Miami University in Ohio.

Susan Martin to Take Over the Leadership of San Jose State University
On July 7, Susan Martin stepped down as president of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. Eleven days later, she was appointed interim president of San Jose State University. She is expected to serve in her new role until June 30, 2016.
