In Memoriam: Mildred Inzer Byers, 1926-2019
Byers joined the faculty at Salem College in 1957 and served there for the next 35 years. During her tenure, she taught courses in American social and cultural history, British history, American women’s history, U.S. history, and Russian history.

In Memoriam: Martha Andrews Nord, 1942-2015
Dr. Nord joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University’s Graduate School of Management in 1978. She taught courses on business and technical communication. Professor Nord also served as director of the Vanderbilt Women in Engineering Program.

Alice Harris Elected to Lead the Linguistic Society of America
Alice C. Harris is a professor of linguistics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She will become president of the 5,000-member Linguistic Society of America in 2016 after serving for a year as vice president and president-elect.
