The research team examined data from students enrolled in an engineering program at a large, public, research-intensive university. The results found that an increase in percentage of women students in their first course improves persistence in the major for all students regardless of their gender.

Rosemary Mariner, one of the first women to serve as an aviator in the U.S. Navy, was a resident scholar in the Center for the Study of War and Society at the University of Tennessee. Duke University’s Susan Lozier to Lead the American Geophysical Union
Dr. Lozier has been a Duke faculty member since 1992. She is widely cited for research on large-scale ocean circulation and its links to global climate change. She will begin her two-year term as president-elect of the American Geophysical Union on January 1, 2019, followed by a two-year term as president beginning in 2021.
