Marcheta P. Evans Named First Black Woman President of St. Catherine University in Minnesota
Dr. Evan’s appointment as president of St. Catherine University is the second time she has been named the first African American president of a higher education institution. She previously served as the first woman and first Black president of Bloomfield College in New Jersey.

After 18 Years, Elsa M. Núñez Is Retiring From the Presidency of Eastern Connecticut State University
Elsa M. Núñez was the first Latina to serve as a university president in New England. Before being named president of Eastern Connecticut State University in 2006, Dr. Núñez served as vice chancellor for academic and student affairs in the University of Maine System and provost and vice president for academic affairs at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Lena Tran Appointed President of Columbia College in Sonora, California
Dr. Tran comes to Columbia College from San Jose City College, where she has served as vice president of strategic partnerships and workforce innovation for more than four years. Previously, at Evergreen College in San Jose, she was dean of business and workforce development.
Mary A. Papazian Is Stepping Down From Presidency of San José State University
The resignation comes on the heels of an investigation that university officials covered up allegations of sexual misconduct involving the former director of sports medicine at the university. Many members of the university’s swimming team alleged sexual misconduct during physical therapy sessions and university officials have been accused of attempting to cover up the incidents.

Carol A. Moore Is the New Leader of Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina
In March of this year, Dr. Moore announced her decision to step down as president of Columbia College in South Carolina for family and health reasons. Dr. Moore also has served as interim president of Burlington College in Vermont and is the former president of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont.

In Memoriam: Frances Johanne Ingemann, 1927-2018
Dr. Ingemann joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 1957 and taught there for 42 years. She founded the department of linguistics at the university in 1967 and was a pioneer in acoustic speech research.
