On July 10, the board of trustees of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania voted not to renew the contract of the university’s president Brenda Allen. President Allen sued and the courts agreed that the vote not to renew her contract was illegal. Now the board has agreed to keep her as president.

In 1969, Dr. Sudarkasa joined the faculty at the University of Michigan. She was the first tenured African American faculty member at the university. In 1986, she was appointed the eleventh president of historically Black Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, and served in that role for 12 years.

The new deans are Kathryn Ann Moler, Marsha Horton, Priscilla Mora, Katharine Traylor Schaffzin, Jeanne Widen, Lenetta R. Lee, Holllis Robbins, Elizabeth M.Z. Farmer, Laura Burian, and Avis E. Hinkson.
