Margaret McKenna was named the tenth president of Suffolk University in Boston. She was president of Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from 1985 to 2007. Most recently, McKenna has been teaching at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Emory University Professor to Be Subject of a New Film Starring Hilary Swank
Deborah Lipstadt is the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University in Atlanta. Professor Lipstadt’s 2005 book about her libel trial in British courts for accusing David Irving of being a “Holocaust denier” is coming to the big screen.

Brandeis University Has Acquired the Archives of the Quarterly Magazine Lilith
The magazine was founded in 1976 and has the tagline “independent, Jewish, and frankly feminist.” The archives include notes, edited articles, editorial correspondence, photographs, manuscripts that were never published, and documents about the founding of the magazine.

Lisa M. Lynch will serve as interim president of the university, beginning on July 1. This past October Dr. Lynch was named provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Brandeis University.
In Memoriam: Janet Kaplan, 1945-2014
Janet Kaplan was a professor of art history and director of curatorial studies at the Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She also taught at the Institute of Fine Arts in New York, the University of New Hampshire, and the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

In Memoriam: Sylvia Kay Hassenfeld, 1921-2014
Sylvia Hassenfeld was a longtime member of the board of trustees and financial supporter of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. A graduate of Cedar Crest College, she also served on the board of New York University’s Langone Medical Center.
In Memoriam: Ann Weick, 1941-2014
Professor Weick joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 1976. She was named acting dean of the School of Social Welfare in 1987 and permanent dean a year later. She served as dean until 2006.
