United States Aquaculture Society Presents Distinguished Service Award to Rebecca Lochmann

Rebecca Lochmann, professor of aquaculture and fisheries at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the United States Aquaculture Society. The award recognizes Dr. Lochmann’s leadership and contributions to research, education, and extension efforts in the field of aquaculture.

Dr. Lochmann first joined the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff faculty in 1993 as an assistant professor. Over the past three decades, she has held various leadership roles with the university including chair of the department of aquaculture and fisheries and director of the Aquaculture/Fisheries Center of Excellence. Her research focuses on the nutrition, growth, stress resistance, immune responses, and product quality of multiple species of fish. In addition to the United States Aquaculture Society, she is a member of numerous professional organizations including the World Aquaculture Society, the American Fisheries Society, and the National Aquaculture Association. Previously, she served as the associate editor of the North American Journal of Aquaculture.

Dr. Lochmann is a graduate of Louisiana State University where she majored in zoology. She holds a master’s degree in marine biology from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University.
