New Faculty Appointments for Four Women Scholars

Naïma Moustaïd-Moussa has been named the inaugural executive director of the Institute for One Health Innovation at Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. She currently serves the university as the Horn Distinguished Professor in the department of nutritional sciences, director of the Obesity Research Institute, and associate vice president for research.

Dr. Moustaïd-Moussa earned her undergraduate degree in cell biology and physiology from the University of Paris XI. She holds a graduate degree and Ph.D. in endocrinology from the University of Paris VI.

Pallavi Sriram has been promoted to associate professor of theatre and dance with tenure at Colorado College, where she holds an additional faculty appointment in Asian studies. Her research focuses on the intersection of dance, socio-politics, and global histories of South Asian and Afro-Asian communities.

Dr. Sriram is a graduate of Northwestern University in Illinois where she double-majored in chemical engineering and dance. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in culture and performance from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Sharon Erickson Nepstad has been appointed associate dean for student success in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of New Mexico. She has taught in the university’s department of sociology and criminology for the past 15 years. During her current tenure, she has held numerous leadership roles including chair of her department and director of the religious studies program.

Dr. Nepstad is a summa cum laude graduate of Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she majored in psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Colorado.

Alexis Lee has joined the faculty in the School of Music at Georgia State University. She will serve as an artist affiliate in cello for the school’s string department. In addition to her new appointment, she will maintain her current position as a member of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra and collaborator with the Atlanta Opera Orchestra.

Dr. Lee holds a bachelor of music degree in performance from The Juilliard School in New York City, a master of music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, and a doctor of musical arts degree in performance from Boston University.
