Seven Women Faculty Members Promoted at Washington and Lee University

Washington and Lee University, the highly rated liberal arts college in Lexington, Virginia, has promoted eight members of its faculty to full professor. Fourteen additional faculty members were granted tenure and promoted to associate professor. Two women are among the eight new full professors and five women are among the 14 faculty members granted tenure and promoted to associate professor.

Amanda Bower was promoted to professor of business administration. She joined the Washington and Lee faculty in 2002. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Richmond and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.

Julie Woodzicka was named promoted to professor of psychology. She joined the W&L faculty in 2000. Dr. Woodzicka received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, an master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Dayton, and a Ph.D. in social psychology from Boston College.

Mary Abdoney was named an associate professor at the university’s science library. She has taught at the university since 2006. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a master of library science degree from the University of South Florida.

Monica Botta was promoted to associate professor of Romance languages. A member of the W&L faculty since 2006, she received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Connecticut State University and her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Spanish literature from the University of Connecticut.

Megan Fulcher is a new associate professor of psychology. After first serving as a visiting assistant professor at W&L from 2004 to 2006, she was appointed assistant professor in 2006. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Virginia.

Molly Michelmore was promoted to associate professor of history. A member of W&L’s faculty since 2006, she received a bachelor’s degree in history from Amherst College and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

Sandy Reiter is an associate professor of business administration. She came to W&L in 2006 after a career in private industry with AlliedSignal Corp. and Honeywell International. She received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and an master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Reiter earned a second a master’s degree in management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a Ph.D. in business from the University of Washington.
