In Memoriam: Sally Chapman, 1946-2012

Sally Chapman, professor of chemistry at Barnard College, died earlier this month after a 10-month battle with cancer. She was 65 years old.
Professor Chapman taught at Barnard for 37 years. She had been a full professor since 1986 and chaired the chemistry department on four separate terms.
Dr. Chapman was a summa cum laude of Smith College and earned a Ph.D. at Yale University. She was awarded the Barnard Medal of Distinction at this spring’s commencement ceremony. Professor Chapman’s sister, Diana Chapman Walsh, is the former president of Wellesley College.
