Universities Announce the Appointment of Nine Women to Administrative Posts

Elizabeth Gonzalez, a longtime expert on equity and student success in higher education, was named the inaugural Hispanic-Serving Institution director in the Chancellor’s Office at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Gonzalez, who has spent more than a decade helping institutions of higher learning close equity gaps, has designed and implemented federal Hispanic-Serving Institution programs at the University of California, Santa Cruz, San Jose City College, and San Diego City College.

Dr. Gonzalez earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and education studies from UCLA. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Jennifer Stedelin has been promoted to vice president for information technology and chief information officer at Pennsylvania State University. She has been serving as deputy chief information officer and associate vice president of enterprise systems and services at the university.

Stedelin holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA, both from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Christine D. Lovely will be the next vice president and chief human resources officer at Cornell University, effective August 30. She has been serving as associate vice chancellor and chief human resources officer at the University of California, Davis. Earlier, Lovely was vice president of human resources at California State University, Sacramento.

Lovely received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 and a J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1996.

Abby Davis was named director of athletics at Arkansas Tech University. She is the first woman to hold the position. Since 2005, Davis has been the women’s tennis coach at the university.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in health and physical education from Arkansas Tech.

Tauheedah Jackson was named the inaugural director of the Institute for Success Planning at the EdRedesign Lab of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She was the director of place-based strategy and community school initiatives at the Institute of Educational Leadership in Washington, D.C.

Jackson is a graduate of Connecticut College. She earned a master’s degree in education policy and management at Harvard University.

Carrie Phillips has been named the new chief communications and marketing officer for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She previously served as director of communications and marketing at Arkansas Tech University.

Dr. Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in multi-media journalism from Arkansas Tech. She earned a doctorate in higher education administration from Texas Tech University

Breanna McKnight has been named director of Clemson University’s Office of Advocacy and Success, a department within the Division of Student Affairs. McKnight joins the office after serving as a community director for University Housing at Clemson. She is the former assistant director of student conduct and a resident director at High Point University in North Carolina.

McKnight earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in management and leadership from Webster University in Missouri.

Anne Griffith has been named vice president for university enterprises and events at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She has served as assistant vice president for UEE for the past year and led the division’s business development, finance, technology, talent acquisition and management, marketing, continuous improvement, and operational units.

Griffith earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Purdue University and an MBA from Loyola University.

Qubieinique Greer was promoted to director of the Academic Success Center at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was a professional faculty adviser with the university’s Student Success Center. Earlier, she was an adviser in the College of Agriculture at Arkansas State University.

Greer received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Lincoln University. She holds a master’s degree in student affairs and higher education administration from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
