A Dozen Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Minerva Tantoco was named the inaugural chief artificial intelligence officer at the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research at New York University. She was the chief technology officer for the City of New York.

A native of the Philippines, Tantoco grew up in Queens, New York. She is a graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she majored in philosophy and cognitive science.

Linette White is the new assistant director for faculty and staff development for the Office of Multicultural Programs in the College of Agriculture at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is the former director of multicultural programs in the College of Pharmacy at the university.

Dr. White holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication and African American studies from Indiana University. She earned a master’s degree in student affairs and higher education from Indiana State University, and a doctorate in education and ethical leadership from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.

Dianne Nagy was appointed assistant vice president for research development and administration at South Dakota State University. She has served as interim director of sponsorship development for the past year and has been on the university’s staff since 2002.

Dr. Nagy is a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio. She received a master’s degree in educational administration from South Dakota State University and earned a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of South Dakota.

Shari Mickey-Boggs has been selected as the senior associate chancellor for human resources at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has been serving as the chief human resources officer at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Mickey-Boggs earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Ohio State University and an MBA from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.

Dawn Peterson is the new vice president of finance and administration at Alverno College in Milwaukee. She had been serving as finance manager for Liturgical Publications.

Peterson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.

Mavis Asiedu-Frimpong was appointed director of the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs at the Camden campus of Rutgers University in New Jersey. She was director of strategic initiatives for the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania.

Asiedu-Frimpong is a graduate of Brown University and Stanford Law School. She also holds a master of public health degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Diane Fabiano Sanders has been named vice president for advancement and alumni engagement at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. She has been interim vice president since July 2021. She previously served as executive director of alumni relations and has been on the staff at the university for 15 years.

Sanders earned a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre at Coastal Carolina University.

Durriya Meer, a licensed psychologist with more than 20 years of experience in higher education counseling and psychology, has joined Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., as the new director of counseling and psychiatric services. She was the associate director for doctoral psychology internships and staff psychologist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Dr. Meer received her bachelor’s in psychology from Sophia College in Mumbai, India, and from New Mexico State University. She holds a master’s degree in psychology from Illinois State University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan.

Minnie Glymph is the new assistant vice president for academic communications at Emory University in Atlanta. She served most recently as senior executive director of communications and marketing in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Glymph is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a degree in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in English and biology.

Susie Cohen Crumpler was promoted to executive director of the Alumni Association at the University of California, Berkeley. She joined the Alumni Association in 2008 and has served as chief marketing officer and chief operating officer.

Crumpler earned a bachelor’s degree in theater arts from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, and holds an MBA, with a focus in nonprofit management, from Binghamton University of the State University of New York System.

Molly Peirano is the inaugural assistant vice president for civil rights and Title IX at the University of South Carolina. She was the director of Title IX engagement and education initiatives at Ohio State University.

Peirano earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University in 2012 and a master’s degree in education from the University of South Carolina in 2015.

Paula Balafas was named assistant vice president and chief of police at the University of Arizona. She is the first woman to hold the post. She was a division commander for the University of Colorado, Boulder Police Department.

Balafas holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from the University of Colorado.
