Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointment of Six Women to Administrative Positions

Kristen Ford was promoted to senior associate vice president for development at Cornell University. She has been serving as associate vice president for colleges and units. Earlier she was director of special campaigns and director of athletics at nearby Ithaca College.

Ford joined the staff at Cornell University in 2006. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Rhode Island.

Starsha Jamerson was appointed director of the Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center at Mississippi State University. The Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center offers supplemental and supportive educational services to ensure that migrant children in the state have access to all public education opportunities. Jamerson joined the staff at the center in 2016 as an educational services coordinator.

A native of Illinois, Jamerson holds a master of public policy and administration degree from Mississippi State University.

Shanon Anderson has been named associate vice president for public safety and chief of police at Oregon State University. Anderson has been with the Seattle Police Department since 1992 and served as a lieutenant in the department since 2016.

Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Governors University and is currently completing a master’s degree in management and leadership from the same institution.

Naydeen Gonzalez-De Jesus has been appointed executive vice president of student success at Milwaukee Area Technical College in Wisconsin. Dr. Gonzalez-De Jesus most recently served as the public diplomacy officer for the U.S. Embassy in Argentina. Earlier. she was vice president of student affairs for Bergen Community College in New Jersey.

Dr. Gonzalez-De Jesus holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Pennsylvania State University. She earned a master’s degree in student personnel services from Rowan University in New Jersey and a doctorate in industrial/organizational psychology from Northcentral University.

Michelle Grimes-Hillman will be the new vice president of instruction at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. She comes to Orange Coast College from Long Beach City College, where she has been serving as the dean of academic services.

Grimes-Hillman holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in experimental psychology from California State University, Fullerton.

Karen Boston, who has been serving as assistant dean for student success at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, has been promoted to senior assistant dean for student success and chief student officer. She joined the staff at the College of Business in 1996.

Dr. Boston earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in education, and a doctorate in higher education administration, all from the University of Arkansas.
