Four Women Who Are New to the Faculty at the University of California, Berkeley

Daniela Cammack is a new assistant professor of political science. She was a Junior Fellow in the Harvard Society of Fellows and taught for three years at Yale. Her research is focused on ancient and modern political thought. Dr. Cammack is a graduate of the University of Oxford in England. She holds a master’s degree in intellectual history and political thought from the University of Cambridge in England and a Ph.D. in political theory from Harvard University.
Tesha Sengupta-Irving has joined the faculty in the Graduate School of Education. Prior to joining the Berkeley faculty, Dr. Sengupta-Irving held academic positions at the University of California, Irvine’s School of Education and Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College of Education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in mathematics curriculum and teacher education from Stanford University.
Sophia Shao was hired as an assistant professor of electrtical engineering and computer science. She was a Senior Research Scientist at NVIDIA Research. Her expertise is on computer architecture, with a special focus on specialized accelerators for emerging applications. Dr. Shao is a graduate of Zhejiang University in China. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
Rebecca Wexler is a new assistant professor in the School of Law. She was a clerk for Judge Katherine Polk Failla of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (2018-2019). Wexler focuses her study on data and technology in the criminal justice system. She is particularly interested in criminal defendants’ access to evidence that is relevant to their defense. Wexler is a graduate of Harvard University and Yale Law School. She also earned a master’s degree at the University of Cambridge in England.
