Eleven Women Who Have Been Appointed to New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Jennie Marie Durán has been named system affirmative action officer at the State University of New York. She was assistant director of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Access at the University of Illinois.

Durán is a graduate of Northern Arizona University. She holds a juris doctorate from the University of Buffalo Law School.

Melanie Sheffield has been named chief development officer for Harvard Art Museums. She was director of development for the Boston Ballet.

Sheffield is a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she majored in communications and minored in history of art and architecture.

Dawn Mitchell Harris has been named director of human resources at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a human resources specialist for the Higher Education Management Board at the Louisiana Board of Regents.

Harris holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern University, a master’s degree from Troy University in Alabama, and an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology.

Renetta Garrison Tull has been named vice chancellor for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Tull has been serving as associate vice provost for strategic initiatives at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and as director of graduate and professional pipeline development and special assistant to the senior vice chancellor for the University System of Maryland.

Dr. Tull is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in electrical engineering. She holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on speech signal processing and a doctorate in speech science both from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Kimbrea J. Browning has been named executive vice president of enrollment management and operations for adult and online education at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. She was vice president of enrollment management at Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Browning holds a bachelor’s degree from Murray State University in Kentucky and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Jessica M. Evenson has been named vice president for university compliance and ethics at Saint Louis University in Missouri. She was director of compliance at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

Evenson holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from North Dakota State University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota.

Robin Randall has been named vice president for enrollment management at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She has been serving as interim vice president since September 2018. Previously, she served as assistant vice president for enrollment and student financial services at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.

Randall holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Ithaca College in New York and an MBA from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Lori Johnson has been promoted to university controller at North Carolina State University. She was director of strategic debt and financial management in the Finance Division of the Office of Finance and Administration at the university.

Johnson is a graduate of Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington, where she majored in accounting.

Kellea Tibbs has been named director of alumni relations at Kentucky State University. She was assistant director of campus relations for the Ohio Alumni Association at Ohio University.

Tibbs is a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio where she majored in criminal justice.

Janice Branch Hall has been named the inaugural director of diversity and inclusion in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. She was assistant director for academic support and partnerships for the Office of Diversity and Community Relations in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee.

Hall holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and a master’s degree in management from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Tennessee.

Cathy Lee Arcuino has been named associate vice chancellor for global engagement at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She was executive director of international programs at North Seattle College.

Dr. Arcuino holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, a master’s degree in education from Framingham State University in Massachusetts, and a doctoral degree in education and human resource studies from Colorado State University.
