New Administrative Positions for 11 Women in Higher Education

Shakenna K. Williams has been named director of the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Global Initiative at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She was deputy academic director and lead faculty director of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program at Babson.

Dr. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and investments from Babson College, an MBA in integrated marketing and communications from Oklahoma City University, and a doctorate from Capella University.

Wendy Wilson has been named vice president of university relations and chief of staff at Albany State University in Georgia. She was executive director of the university’s Cordele Center.

Dr. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bluefield College in Virginia, a master’s degree in human resources administration from Central Michigan University, and a doctorate in curriculum and leadership from Columbus State University in Georgia.

Jill Lees has been named chief of the Indiana University Police Department in Bloomington. She was deputy chief of support at the Plainfield Police Department.

Lees is a graduate of the Indiana University Police Academy.

Sherry Andre has been named director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida International University in Miami. She is also an adjunct instructor for the university’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. Previously, she was department chair of the School of Business at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami.

Dr. Andre holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University.

Amanda Reeder has been named transfer relations director at the University of Wyoming. She was the accelerated nursing transfer coordinator at Utica College in New York.

Reeder holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in higher education administration.

Ling-Ling Nie has been named general counsel and vice president for ethics and compliance at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She was chief compliance officer and assistant general counsel at Panasonic Corporation of North America.

Nie is a graduate of the University of Georgia. She holds a law degree from the Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.

Monika Williams Shealey has been named senior vice president of the newly created Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. She has served as dean of the university’s College of Education since 2013.

Dr. Shealey holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree from the University of South Florida, an education degree in reading/learning disabilities from the University of Miami, and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Central Florida.

Jaime Opanashuk has been named victim advocate at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She has served as a probation officer and a child abuse and domestic violence case coordinator for the states of New York and Oregon.

Opanashuk is a graduate of Niagara University in New York where she double majored in criminal justice and psychology.

Deborah Alston has been named interim director of alumni relations at Virginia Union University. She has been director of prospect research and gifts management at the university since 2009.

Alston holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Virginia State University.

Jennifer Martinez Wormser has been named librarian at the Ella Strong Denison Library at Scripps College in Claremont, California. She was library director at Laguna College of Art + Design in California.

Wormser is a graduate of Scripps College where she majored in English and minored in French. She holds a master of library science degree with a concentration in archival management from the University of Maryland.

Teresa A. Miller has been named senior vice chancellor for strategic initiatives and chief diversity officer for the State University of New York System. She has been serving as chief of staff at the university system for the past year.

Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Duke University, a master of laws degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.

Jane Phillips has been promoted to vice president for college advancement at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She was associate vice president for college advancement.

Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree in art history and government from Colby College and a master’s degree in visual arts administration from New York University.
