Here is this week’s news of grants and gifts that may be of particular interest to women in higher education.
Manchester University in Indiana received a three-year, $300,000 grant from the Office on Violence Against Women of the U.S. Department of Justice to supports its Creating a Respectful Environment (CARE) initiative. The program includes education programs on sexual assault awareness and prevention and efforts to promote cooperation between university officials, victim advocacy organizations, and local law enforcement.

Florida International University in Miami received a $3.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation for efforts to increase the number of women and members of underrepresented groups who pursue degrees in STEM fields. The initiative will include efforts to recruit, retain, and promote more women faculty in engineering and science disciplines, to train faculty and staff about biases that affect the advancement of women in academia, and the establishment of a seminar series on women in engineering and science.
