Six Women Faculty Members Taking on New Roles

Mia Levy, the Ingram Assistant Professor of Cancer Research at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, has been given the additional duty of directing Cancer Health Information and Strategy, a group that will develop new informatics tools in cancer medicine, data analytics, and cancer care coordination.

Dr. Levy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Rush University School of Medicine in Chicago. She also holds a Ph.D. in biomedical informatics from Stanford University in California.

Cris Mayo was named a full professor in the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies at West Virginia University. She will also serve as director of the West Virginia University LGBTQ Center on campus. Dr. Mayo currently serves as a professor of education policy, organization, and leadership at the University of Illinois. She will begin work at West Virginia University on July 1. She is the author of Disputing the Subject of Sex: Sexuality and Public School Controversies (Rowman and Littlefield, 2004) and LGBTQ Youth and Education: Policies and Practices (Teachers College Press, 2013).

Dr. Mayo is a graduate of the State University of New York and holds master’s and doctoral degree in education from the University of Illinois.

Annalisa Piccorelli was named an assistant professor of statistics at the University of Wyoming. She was an assistant professor at the University of Akron in Ohio.

Dr. Piccorelli is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she majored in mathematics. She earned a master’s degree in epidemiology and a Ph.D. in biostatistics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Wendy R. Boswell was appointed chair of the department of management at Texas A&M University. She holds the Jerry and Kay Cox Endowed Chair in Business. Professor Boswell joined the faculty at Texas A&M in 2000.

Dr. Boswell is a magna cum laude graduate of California State University, Fresno, where she majored in human resource management. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in human resource studies from Cornell University.

Verity Harte was named the George A. Saden Professor of Philosophy and Classics at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She joined the Yale faculty in 2006. Professor Harte is the author of Plato on Parts and Wholes: The Metaphysics of Structure (Clarendon Press, 2002).

Dr. Harte holds a bachelor’s degree in classics and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Cambridge in England.

Linda Moneyham, professor of nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was elected as governor-at-large to the National League of Nursing Board of Governors. Professor Moneyham is also the president-elect of the Alabama League for Nursing.

Dr. Moneyham is a graduate of Berea College in Kentucky. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. from Indiana University.
