Garnett Stokes to Lead Florida State University

The board of trustees of Florida State University has selected Garnett S. Stokes as interim president of the university, effective April 2. President Eric J. Barron is leaving Florida State to become president of Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Stokes currently serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Florida State. She is also a professor of psychology at the university. Before joining the faculty at Florida State in 2011, Dr. Stokes was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Stokes is a graduate of Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Georgia.
