Universities That Awarded More Than 300 Doctorates to Women From 2019-2023

New data from the Survey of Earned Doctorates from the National Science Foundation provides information on the universities that awarded the most doctorates to African Americans during the 2019-2023 period.

Walden University, headquartered in Minneapolis but conducts most of its business online, awarded 433 doctorates to women during the five-year period. During the same period, 179 men earned doctorates from Walden University.

A total of 17 universities awarded more than 300 doctorates to women during the five-year span. Ranking second was the University of Michigan, where 394 women were awarded doctoral degrees. Men earned 506 doctoral degrees at the University of Michigan during the same period.

Other universities that granted more than 300 doctoral degrees to women in the 2019-to-2023 period were:

Of these universities that awarded more than 300 doctorates to women in the 2019-to-2023 period, women earned a majority of the doctorates at only three institutions: Walden University, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Georgia.
