Shelly Blunt Appointed Provost of the University of Southern Indiana

Shelly Blunt has been named provost of the University of Southern Indiana. She has served in the role on an interim basis since July 2023.
The University of Southern Indiana in Evansville enrolls more than 7,300 undergraduate students and more than 1,800 graduate students, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 63 percent of the undergraduate student body.
Dr. Blunt has been a member of the University of Southern Indiana community for over two decades. Since joining the faculty in 1999, she has held several academic leadership roles, including dean of the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education and associate provost for academic affairs. She also teaches as a full professor of chemistry in the department of chemistry and biochemistry. For her contributions to the university and its students, she previously received the Outstanding Advisor of the Year award and a Phenomenal Women of USI award.
Dr. Blunt is a graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Iowa.
