
Dr. Genz began her career at Eckerd College in 1963 as a visiting professor in the French department. She was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 1969, and again to full professor in 1971. In the mid-1970s, she helped develop Eckerd’s first women’s studies program. Her scholarship centered around twentieth-century French literature, focusing on poetry, plays, and novels featuring existentialism, surrealism, and absurdism. She retired from the college in 1988 after 25 years of service.
A native of Quebec, Dr. Genz was a magna cum laude graduate of the College Jésus-Marie of Sillery in Quebec City. She earned her Ph.D. from Laval University in Quebec City.
