Eight Women Appointed to Administrative Roles at Colleges and Universities

Krista Timney has been named director of communications for the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She has been with Virginia Tech since 2018, currently serving as director of communications for the College of Natural Resources and Environment.

Dr. Timney holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Clemson University in South Carolina.

Mary-Ann Ibeziako has been appointed vice president of environmental health, sustainability, and safety at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Prior to her new appointment, she served as the assistant vice president for infrastructure and sustainability at Virginia Tech.

Ibeziako is a graduate of Cleveland State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in mechanical engineering. She holds an MBA in strategic management from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Anne McCoy has been promoted from interim director to permanent director of athletics at Washington State University. Her appointment makes her the first women to hold the position. She first joined the university in 2011 as the associate director of athletics for internal operations. Before her interim appointment, she was the senior deputy director of athletics and the senior woman administrator.

McCoy received her bachelor’s degree in sports management for the University of Massachusetts.

Ty Stone has been appointed executive vice president for finance and administration at Howard Community College in Maryland. She previously served as president of Cleveland State Community College in Tennessee, as well as Jefferson Community College in New York. She also held various administrative leadership roles with Sinclair Community College in Ohio.

Dr. Stone holds an MBA in organizational strategy from Trinity University-Washington and a Ph.D. in organization and management from Capella University.

Joan Liptrot has been promoted to executive director of the Center for Experience and Opportunity at McDaniel College in Maryland. For the past year, she has served as the college’s director of international and off-campus programs. She previously served as director of service and civic engagement at Rider University in New Jersey.

Liptrot holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania.

Kishia C. James has been appointed interim vice president for student services at Jarvis Christian University in Hawkins, Texas. She has an experienced background in various educational counseling settings, most recently serving as the university’s director of counseling.

Dr. James holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a master’s degree in counseling, and a second master’s degree in school administration from North Carolina Central University. She received her doctorate in educational leadership from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina.

Ebony Turner has been named director of program and research development at Grambling State University in Louisiana. She has over two decades of experience in federal planning and strategic initiative positions, previously serving as a proposal reviewer for the Department of Labor, the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Education.

Dr. Turner holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Xavier University of Louisiana, a master’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of New Orleans, and a Ph.D. in urban higher education administration from Jackson State University in Mississippi.

Erin J. McCann has been appointed vice president for student development and community engagement at New Jersey City University. Her appointment marks a return to the university, where she previously spent seven years as chief Title IX investigator and associate dean of campus life and judicial and academic standards. For the past five years, she has served as the university Title IX coordinator and vice president of student life and development at Saint Peter’s University in New Jersey.

McCann is a graduate of Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, where she majored in English with a minor in history. She holds a master of education degree in instructional technology from American Intercontinental University.
