In Memoriam: Barbara Arnstine, 1934-2024

Barbara Arnstine, long-time professor of education at California State University, Sacramento, passed away on April 13. She was 89 years old.

Dr. Arnstine’s career with the California State University, Sacramento spanned more than 25 years. She served as a professor of education, teaching courses on teacher preparation and the philosophy of education. During her long tenure with the university, she helped establish a new master’s degree program in women’s studies and women in education. Prior to joining the faculty at California State University, Sacramento, she taught education courses at the University of Tennessee, the University of Wisconsin, and Boston University.

Dr. Arnstine held a bachelor’s degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, a master of education degree from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in the philosophy of education from the University of Wisconsin.
