Three Women Appointed to Diversity Posts at Large Universities

Kerri Thompson Tillett has been named associate vice chancellor for equal opportunity at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Tillett most recently was associate vice president for the Division of Inclusive Excellence at The College of New Jersey.
Tillett is a graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She earned a juris doctorate at the Tulane University School of law.
Torsheika Maddox was promoted to be the inaugural senior operations officer and chief of staff to the interim deputy vice chancellor for diversity & climate and chief diversity officer in the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She joined the staff at the division in 2015.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Dr. Maddox earned two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Shirley J. Everett, senior associate vice provost for residential and dining enterprises at Stanford University, was given the added duties of senior adviser to the provost on equity and inclusion. Dr. Everett joined the staff at the university in 1991.
A native of Chicago, Dr. Everett is a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana. She holds an MBA and a doctorate in education from Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga.
