New Assignments for Five Women Scholars at Major Universities

Nancy Cox, dean of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at the University of Kentucky, has been given the added duties of vice president for land-grant engagement. Dr. Cox joined the faculty at the university in 2001 and was named dean in 2014.
Dr. Cox is a graduate of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in animal physiology from North Carolina State University.
Tonya Mitchell-Spradlin is a new assistant professor of music and director of wind band studies at Pennsylvania State University. She was assistant director of bands and associate director of athletic bands at the University of South Carolina.
Dr. Mitchell-Spradin is a graduate of Indiana University. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Georgia and a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Kansas.
Kristen H. Lagattuta, a professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis, was named faculty advisor to the provost at the university. She joined the faculty at the university in 2001 and was promoted to full professor in 2014.
Professor Lagattuta is a graduate of Stanford University, where she majored in psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Michigan.
Shatema Threadcraft is a new associate professor of gender and sexuality studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She previously served on the faculty at Dartmouth College and Rutgers University. She is the author of Intimate Justice: The Black Female Body and the Body Politic (Oxford University Press, 2016).
Dr. Threadcraft is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Ph.D. in political science from Yale University.
Tammy Kahrig, an instructor in the College of Education and Human Services at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, was appointed interim vice provost for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and institutional accreditation.
Dr. Kahrig is a graduate of Ohio University, where she majored in English education. She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and a Ph.D. in higher educational administration, also from Ohio University.
