In Memoriam: Vicki Cassman, 1957-2020

Vicki Cassman, a former professor of art conservation at the University of Delaware, died on August 6 at her home in Santa Cruz, California. She was 63 years old. In 2018, Dr. Cassman has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
A native of Berkeley, California, Dr. Cassman earned a bachelor’s degree in art history at the University of California, Davis. She held a master’s degree in textile conservation from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in archaeology from Arizona State University.
Dr. Cassman began her academic career at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She joined the faculty at the University of Delaware in 2006. She oversaw the department of art conservation’s undergraduate program as well as international studies and internship programs. She was the editor for the book Human Remains Guide for Museums and Academic Institutions (AltaMira Press 2007).
Professor Cassman retired from the University of Delaware faculty in 2018.
