In Memoriam: Maria “Mia” E. Brazill, 1952-2018

Mia BrazillMaria “Mia” E. Brazill, a former librarian at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, died in her sleep in Northampton, Massachusetts, on August 21st. She was 66 years old.

Brazill joined the library staff in 1980 and resigned eight years later. During her career she also served as a librarian at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.

A native of New York State, Brazill grew up in New York, Georgia, Florida, and Ohio. She held a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in English, and a master’s degree in library science.
